Welcome to The Cross

Located in the historic town of Kenilworth in the heart of Warwickshire, The Cross is an award-winning pub that combines Michelin-starred food with a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.

Under the guidance of chef-director Adam Bennett, we have held a Michelin star for over six years and are proud to boast three AA Rosettes. We received a Good Food Award Gold Seal in 2021.

The Cross’s respected and renowned chef-patron Andreas Antona also owns Simpsons, the Michelin-starred restaurant that put Birmingham firmly on the fine dining map.

The Cross is housed in a Grade II listed 19th-century inn and has been sympathetically restored to retain its heritage alongside contemporary touches that make it a fabulous place to enjoy great food, a casual atmosphere and informal but attentive service.

Our main dining room is a former school room that leads to a cosy and welcoming bar - previously a butcher's shop.

Another dining room overlooks the pass, where guests can glimpse the team of chefs busily at work.

We have a green and spacious pub garden, perfect for aperitifs, cocktails and post-dinner drinks.

Following chef-director Adam Bennett's lead, our cooking reflects the changing seasons and champions exceptional produce from local suppliers.

Changing with the seasons

Like our sister restaurant Simpsons in leafy Edgbaston, Birmingham, we design our menus to celebrate the changing seasons.

We believe that produce tastes best when it is harvested at its prime and does not have to travel far from field to plate.

We follow the seasons and collaborate closely with local growers and suppliers.

The provenance of our ingredients is paramount which is why we work with the team at Mill Piece Gardens, an organic, low-intervention farm a few miles away near Bubbenhall.

Mill Piece’s owners Luciole and Jan are committed to ecological methods that minimise their carbon footprint, growing a wide variety of crops.

Their vegetables, herbs and edible flowers could not be fresher when they arrive on your plate - they are delivered to us within an hour or two of harvesting.

The best pub garden in Warwickshire

Warwickshire boasts some beautiful pub gardens - but we are confident that ours is the best of all.

It is a spacious and calm oasis that provides the ideal spot for a pre-dinner drink or a long lunch with friends and family.

During summer, we furnish our terrace with a stretch tent, cosy blankets and heaters, so that guests can eat al fresco in almost any weather.

Our garden is the perfect stepping stone for those wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and local towns such as Leamington Spa, Warwick or Stratford-upon-Avon.

The Cross also has a large, convenient car park.
